The LUGE

This is one of the fastest Olympic sports. Lugers, on tiny sleds, zoom down a solid ice track at fantastic speeds, hold their bodies in an aerodynamically optimized position while fighting extreme G-force, and use only a helmet as their safety equipment.

Would you like to try this?

In this short activity we look at how important a luger's starting speed is and try to figure out how they get to their extreme speeds.
