Holiday Candy Sales -

This activity is being updated for 2025. Stay tuned — it’s coming in the first week of December!

In this activity, students will analyze U.S. holiday candy sales data to calculate the approximate amount spent on candy for each holiday. Using real-world percentages, they will explore different strategies and organize their calculations. They will also reflect on the efficiency of their chosen methods and think critically about trends in candy sales. Suitable for Grades 5–7.

📝The starter slides set the stage with engaging prompts about candy sales for the holidays

⏰45–60 minutes, including the starter activity, depending on the depth of discussion.

Note: Starting from the 2nd page of the main activity, the document switches to a horizontal orientation to provide more space for calculations and work. If you plan to print this activity, don’t forget to adjust your printer settings to ensure all pages are printed correctly.
