Holiday candy sales
Holiday candy sales
Which holidays are associated with candy?
For which of those holidays is the most candy sold?
What percents of annual candy sales does each holiday contribute?
Consider using some independent think time, then small group discussion, then whole group discussion as kids reason and estimate with these questions. In Brian's activity, he asks students to translate a pie chart of information on candy sales to actual dollars spent for Halloween, Easter, Christmas/Hanukka, and Valentine's Day. Serve a sweet in your classroom as you ask students to ponder the amounts of money Americans spend on candy.
For Adventurer members we have an editable Word docx, an Excel sheet of data, and solutions.
