Holiday Candy Sales (2025)

 

In this activity, students will analyze U.S. holiday candy sales percentage data (updated) to calculate the approximate amount spent on candy for each holiday. Students are encouraged to work without a calculator to strengthen their fluency with multiplying multi-digit whole numbers & decimals using the standard algorithm. They will also reflect on the efficiency of their calculating strategies and think critically about consumer behavior, marketing, and pricing.
