How much did the temperature change in Boston - Show students the graph with the text and let them determine and discuss the temperature change as a class.  How could they draw a diagram to help students see the correct increase?  What other temperatures could the low and high points have been to result in the same temperature swing? 6.NS.5, 7.NS.1, 7.NS.3

Wind Chill - Students study National weather service wind chill chart. they interpolate and calculate what the wind or temperature must have been given the calculated wind chill temperature. 5.OA.3, 6.EE.1, 6.EE.2, 7.EE.3, 7.EE.4, 8.EE.7, HSA.REI.B.3, HSF.LE.A.1, HSF.LE.A.4, MP.4

Throwing up again - When Anchorage, Alaska received more than 100 inches of snow in their winter the height of the tunnel to people's homes got hugely high. When they shoveled an area, they had to throw the snow practically straight up from their path to get the snow well into the surrounding snowbanks. Students experiment with graphing parabolas and manipulating those equations to try to establish a likely trajectory. 8.F.5, HSA.CED.2, HSA.REI, HSG.MG.3
