320 million dollar Powerball

People were excited about recent jackpots of 320 million and 425 million dollars in the Powerball game.  Compound probability can be explored in this current new’s story.  Students calculate the probability of individual numbers drawn and then look for the probability of 2, 3, 4, 5, and even the jackpot, 6 chosen numbers matching.

We found a Powerball simulator that allows student to continuously play their chosen numbers and study the odds.        http://justwebware.com/powerball/powerball.html   (see a preview of the simulator below)
