Hot Summer Cold Winter

In the United States the summer of 2011 was one of the hottest summers on record.  The winters of 2010 and 2011 have been the coldest since 1993-94. Brian uses these temperature extremes to make signed number operations and absolute value sensible.

  1. Nice activity. I’m not so sure about some of those elevations, but they don’t seem to be used in the questions.
    Thanks!

    • There are two or three elevations that look like crazy numbers, because they are actually giving the elevations for two different cities. In each of those cases there was a tie for record temp., so both elevations are listed and it looks like one number. We will fix the way that looks. Thanks for letting us know! :)

  2. Thanks, neat activity.
